Windows XP Media Center has three releases namely Windows XP Media Center Edition, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 is the final release. It was updated a number of times to incorporate new capabilities such as support for the Xbox 360 as a media center extender, DVB-T broadcasts, and support for two ATSC tuner cards. If you were using the 2002 year released version of Windows XP Media Center and have installed or upgraded to Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004 or Windows Media Center Edition 2005, the version number that appears in the properties of My Computer is incorrect. The General tab displays "Version 2002". To know the version of Windows XP Media Center Edition that you are running, perform the following steps:
1. Start Media Center.
2. On the Settings menu, click General.
3. Scroll down, and then click About Media Center.
The version number of the application that you are running is displayed.
Now to Windows Vista, perform the following steps to know the edition of Windows Vista:
