Show desktop icon missing on the Quick Launch toolbar in Windows XP

To restore the Show desktop icon on the Quick Launch toolbar, perform the following steps:
1. Open Notepad. Copy and paste the following text in the Notepad.

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

2. Save the Notepad file as "Show Desktop.scf" - include the quotes while saving the Notepad file.
3. The Show desktop icon will be created on the desktop. Drag and drop the Show desktop icon onto the Quick Launch toolbar.

Alternate ways to show the desktop

• From the keyboard, press the Windows logo key and D key.


• Right click on an empty space on the taskbar and click on the Show the Desktop.
