Clear the programs from the Start menu in Windows Vista

In Windows Vista, when you open a program like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Notepad, Calculator or any other program then the program will be displayed in the Start menu, just below the pinned list of programs. For some reasons, you think to clear the programs from the Start menu then you may right-click on the particular program and click on Remove from this list. If you do not want the Start menu to display the list of programs all the time then you may perform the following steps to clear the programs.

1. Click Start button , click Control Panel.
2. Click Appearance and Personalization.

3. Click Taskbar and Start Menu to open Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box.

4. Click the Start Menu tab. Under Privacy, click to clear the Store and display a list of recently opened programs check box.
5. Click OK to close the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box.
